I am an experienced educator with a passion for language and literacy. With over 14 years of experience in education, I have developed expertise as a classroom teacher, literacy coach, trainer, and district leader. I studied Child Development at Tufts University and I hold a Master's Degree in Education from the University of Missouri. I currently work with school districts across the country, consulting on setting up systems to improve implementation of research-based curricula and facilitating professional learning experiences. I work collaboratively with school leaders to support them in building their skills and knowledge grounded in the Science of Reading and to develop professional learning tools and resources that will work most effectively within each school's unique context.
Services
Education Design Consulting offers an innovative, collaborative approach for designing systems, tools, and professional learning experiences that contextualize research-based best practices to support a culture of learning, growth, and achievement for all students and adults within the school system. My holistic approach is grounded in the latest research from the field and driven by the belief that ALL students can experience the power and joy of literacy.
I specialize in supporting elementary literacy instruction grounded in the science of reading, culturally responsive practices, and building student agency and educator efficacy. I work with school and district leaders and directly with educators to support the translation of scientifically-based reading research to instructional practices and organizational systems that build empowered readers and writers.
Instructional Coaching
Student-centered coaching grounded in data and aligned with curriculum implementation and the latest reading research. Leveraging technology to develop coaching relationships and provide actionable feedback to build teacher capacity and efficacy in support of student learning.
Leadership Systems Development & Training
Leader knowledge and skill development around the science of reading. Supporting leaders in analyzing how their current systems are working to support student learning. Collaboratively developing custom tools and resources to support systemic change.
Professional Learning
Collaborative Professional Learning is a unique, educative approach to PL that builds the skills and knowledge of coaches, leaders, and facilitators as they learn alongside teachers and practitioners. Custom Professional Learning sessions are designed in alignment with district goals and curriculum and include detailed "Lead Learner" guides to support facilitation.
Resource & Tool Creation
Ensuring teachers and leaders have the right resources at their fingertips in order to support student learning and alignment to a shared vision. Resources are designed to meet specific needs, and can include pacing guides, data tracking tools, coaching tools, student-facing lesson resources, reflection and planning resources, and anything else under the sun.
